As part of Day-Mer’s 27th Annual Festival, Day-Mer Youth is organising its own youth solidarity night to provide young people with the opportunity to showcase their talents and enjoy a night of entertainment while emphasising the need to unite under common demands.
Students and young workers have not stood silent to the aggressions of the government. Big cities, especially London, continue to host some of the most diverse street protests with all-encompassing demands of people’s and youth at the forefront of these struggles. Among others, students are demanding a rent cap, solidarity with refugees and a rejection of imperialist wars. The determination of junior doctor’s through their consistent and effective strikes to protect, not just their individual rights but also, the rights of patients and the broader public has forced the government to take a step back.
Never ending wars, attacks on social rights and uncertainty of a decent career add nothing but darkness to the future of young people. As Day-Mer Youth, we demand jobs and free education, an investment into our future; not wars, illegal occupations or tax havens for the rich.
Join us at this festival and let us continue to build solidarity of young people by collectively producing, sharing and exchanging experiences despite the individualism and selfishness imposed on us. Let’s unite around our common demands and build our future together!
Unity is Strength!
