Day-Mer, Turkish and Kurdish Community Centre along with Roj Women,Refugee Workers Cultural Association and Turkish Cypriot Community Centre are working together on a community-based research project on the advice needs of Turkish and Kurdish communities in London – with a particular focus on the North London area.
The aims of the project are:
- To investigate the impact of the current cost of living crisis, the pandemic and the latest welfare restructuring on Kurdish, Turkish and Cypriot and European Turkish communities in North London.
- To identify advice and other community needs and gaps in service provision.
- To inform local policy makers, service providers and the community sector on priorities and development needs.
The project, which will take place between April and July 2024, will include:
- A review and analysis of official statistics other data sources.
- A survey of community centre service users and other members of these communities, carried out by community researchers.
- Additional in-depth interviews with individuals and key informants.
The final report will be launched in a community event and presented in a number of other settings in order to raise awareness and stimulate a debate amongst the local community, service providers, policy makers, academics and other stakeholders.
